Volkswagen to launch 7 new products in China in 2010
SinoCast, 13 Mar '10

Winfried Vahland, head of Volkswagen Group China (VGC), on March 12th revealed that seven new car models, including the Golf GTI, Passat CC, and Tiguan, would hit the Chinese market this year.

Previously, he predicted that the Chinese automobile market could grow 10-15% in 2010, but the estimate was lifted to 15-20% recently. In the long, Volkswagen is fully filled with confidence in its future performance in China, and its €4.4 billion investment plan will be further enlarged.

VW aggregately sold 1.4 million vehicles in China last year, rising 400,000 units year over year, and total sales revenue leapt 40% to €20 billon. However, it has been challenged by inefficient production capacity and inventory shortage.

In order to satisfy the increasing demand, VW is mulling over a plan to create a new production base in China by 2013.
