The festive season has started in India, and carmakers are looking to push sales to counter the recent slowdown in the industry.
Across the country, dealerships of Tata Motors, Kia, Maruti, Mahindra, Jeep and several other carmakers are offering massive discounts on midsize SUVs. Here are the 10 midsize SUVs with the highest discounts this month.
Jeep Compass
Save up to Rs. 315,000 (US$ 3,750)
Jeep India is offering benefits of up to Rs. 315,000 on the Compass. These include cash discounts to the tune of Rs. 250,000. Priced between Rs. 1,899,000 and Rs. 2,833,000, the Compass only comes with a 172 PS, 2.0-litre diesel engine that has manual and automatic transmission options. Only the top-spec Model S variants get a 4x4 option. Jeep's most affordable SUV in India rivals the likes of the Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV700.
Volkswagen Taigun
Save up to Rs. 307,000
Depending on the variant, there are up to Rs. 307,000 worth of benefits to be availed of on the Volkswagen Taigun. The maximum discount is on the unsold inventory of the MY2023 Taigun 1.5 GT. The MY2024 Taiguns with the 1.0-litre engine get between Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 125,000 off. The Taigun costs Rs. 1,170,000-2,000,000 and competes with models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, and the recently launched Tata Curvv and Citroen Basalt.
Mahindra XUV400
Save up to Rs. 300,000
Mahindra's only EV on sale right now, the XUV400, is priced between Rs. 1,674,000 and 1,749,000. Dealers are offering up to Rs. 300,000 in benefits on the top-spec EL Pro variant with the larger 39.4 kWh battery (456 km MIDC range) and faster 7.2 kW charger. The same EL Pro variant is also available with a 34.5 kWh battery, though, with slightly lower discounts. Mahindra's EV directly rivals the Tata Nexon EV, but it will also see competition from the MG Windsor, slated for a September 11 launch.
Jeep Meridian
Save up to Rs. 280,000
Jeep Meridian is available with cash discounts of up to Rs. 200,000, with overall benefits amounting to Rs. 280,000. Priced from Rs. 3 million to Rs. 3,714,000, the seven-seat SUV rivals the Skoda Kodiaq in the Indian market. The Meridian shares its powertrain with the Compass.
Tata Safari
Save up to Rs. 165,000
The discounts on MY2024 Tata Safaris range between Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 140,000, and there's an additional Rs. 25,000 cash discount on the MY2023 versions. The benefits are highest on the mid-spec Pure + S and Pure + S Dark variants and the lowest on the top-spec ones. Tata Safari is priced in the Rs. 1,549,000 to Rs. 2,734,000 range, and its rivals include the Mahindra XUV700 and MG Hector Plus. Like the Harrier, it has a 172 PS, 2.0-litre diesel engine that comes with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter auto.
Tata Harrier
Save up to Rs. 145,000
Essentially a 5-seat version of the Safari, the Harrier is available at discounts of up to Rs. 120,000, with MY2023 units getting an additional Rs. 25,000 off. As with the Safari, the mid-spec Harrier variants are offering the highest savings. The discounts on the lower and top-spec variants are up to Rs. 70,000 and Rs. 50,000, respectively. With prices ranging between Rs. 1,499,000 and Rs. 2,644,000, the Harrier rivals the Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector and the Jeep Compass.
Kia Seltos
Save up to Rs. 130,000
Kia's answer to the Tata Curvv, Hyundai Creta and Skoda Kushaq, the Seltos is being sold with up to Rs. 130,000 worth of benefits, which include a cash discount, an exchange bonus and an accessories package. The amount of savings would depend on the variant. The Seltos has three engine options a 1.5-litre NA petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with the NA petrol getting manual and CVT options, the turbo-petrol getting iMT and dual-clutch auto options, and the diesel having manual, iMT and torque convertor auto options. The Seltos range is priced from Rs. 1,090,000 to Rs. 2,037,000.
Maruti Grand Vitara
Save up to Rs. 128,000
Discounts on the Grand Vitara line-up remain the same as last month. The strong hybrid range, powered by a 117 PS petrol-electric powertrain and priced in the Rs. 1,843,000-1,993,000 range, gets up to Rs. 128,000 in benefits. The maximum discount on the mild-hybrid line-up and the CNG variants which cost Rs. 1,099,000 to Rs. 1,701,000 is Rs. 73,100 and Rs. 33,100, respectively. Both come with a 1.5-litre engine, which makes 104 PS on petrol and 89 PS on CNG. Petrol variants get a 6-speed automatic option and choice of AWD in manual form. The CNG cars get a manual gearbox as standard.
Hyundai Alcazar
Save up to Rs. 90,000
Bookings for the Alcazar facelift have commenced, and this is one of the reasons why the outgoing model is being sold at up to Rs. 90,000 off. This discount is applicable on the 162 PS, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with manual and dual-clutch automatic options and the 118 PS, 1.5-litre diesel with manual and torque converter options. The Alcazar is Hyundai's rival to the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700.
Honda Elevate
Save up to Rs. 75,000
The Honda Elevate comes with benefits of up to Rs. 75,000, depending on the variant. The discounts are applicable to units manufactured before April 2024; Honda added safety features such as six airbags, three-point ELR seat belts and seat belt reminders for all five seats at that point. The Elevate SUVs made after April are available with benefits worth Rs 65,000. Honda's midsize SUV takes on the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos and is priced between Rs. 1,191,000 and Rs. 1,651,000.
