Representative of the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) in Indonesia has appointed Andalan Motor Group as the first company to build Morris Garage (MG) 3S (sales, service, spare parts) dealer network in Indonesia, namely in Samanhudi (Central Jakarta), Pondok Indah (South Jakarta), and Bandung (West Java).
The appointment of Andalan as a 3S dealer partner was carried out directly by SAIC Indonesia as MG distributor (APM) in Indonesia, so that their dealer network had direct certification from the principal.
"We also have adequate test drive unit as well as a replacement car. Andalan Motor has a vision to be the best dealership group and is fully committed to continuing expansion," said MG Andalan Operation Director, Jaya Kontesa, in an official statement.
According to him, the prospect of MG in Indonesia is very bright as MG is a global SAIC brand that is marketed in several countries, such as Australia, China and Thailand, India and of course in their home countries in UK and Europe.
MG ZS, the first model of MG in Indonesia, is an SUV with competitive selling prices, starting from IDR 255.8 million (US$ 17,466). The car features six airbags, curve brake control and among others, panoramic sunroof.
"The ZS suspension is also good, so I think it can compete with other LSUV in the market," he said.
SAIC Indonesia is also ready to add new models in Indonesia. After ZS, MG will release HS, a mid-size SUV class. In fact, MG has also planned to sell its EV SUV which has already marketed in several countries in Asia. MG will be backed by several finance companies including Mandiri Tunas Finance, Maybank Finance, and SGMW Multifinance Indonesia for financing.
Since its operation at the end of March 2020, MG Andalan sales have reached more than a dozen units. Sales could actually be even higher, but hampered by the Covid-19 pandemic. Furthermore, MG Andalan held an online sales campaign through cooperation with e-commerce and automotive portals, namely BliBli, Tokopedia, Carmudi, Mobil123 and Bukalapak for the purchase of new vehicles and spare parts.
"We are also approaching a number of old consumers from brands that we once held," he said.
MG Motor Indonesia hands over the MG ZS unit to one of its customers in Jakarta a month after holding a virtual introduction at the end of March 2020.
