Changan is exporting vehicles from its Rayong plant in Thailand to Europe, including the Deepal S05 compact SUV.
The Rayong facility is Changan's first overseas production base for new energy vehicles. Construction commenced in November 2023, with a total investment of CNY 1.9 billion (US$ 270.3 million).
Production has begun, and Changan intends to expand capacity in the future.
The Deepal S05 is Deepal's fifth model, initially launched in October 2024, and is available in four BEV and two EREV trims. The BEV is priced from CNY 119,900 to CNY 145,900, while the EREV variant ranges from CNY 139,900 to CNY 149,900.
Its dimensions are 4620/1900/1600 mm, with a wheelbase of 2880 mm and a drag coefficient of 0.25 Cd.
At the Munich Auto Show in September, Changan announced the Deepal S05's pricing for the European market, offering three trims ranging from EUR 38,990 to EUR 44,990 (US$45,900-53,000).
The European BEV trims are available in single-motor and dual-motor configurations, equipped with a 68.82 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack. The WLTP cruising range is 485 km for the single-motor variant and 445 km for the dual-motor variant.
The single-motor variant delivers a maximum power of 200 kW (268 hp) and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds. The dual-motor variant has a combined system power of 320 kW (429 hp) and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds.
All variants support fast-charging, allowing the battery to recharge from 30% to 80% within 15 minutes.
The interior features a 15.4-inch 2.5K central control screen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. The vehicle operating system, Deepal OS 3.1, provides real-time information, including time, weather, and vehicle status.
