Kompas Otomotif, 22 Nov '24
Chery Indonesia has officially announced the local production of the J6 electric SUV, which is set to debut at the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) event, commencing on 22nd November 2024.
"This local production reflects Chery's commitment to delivering products that meet the needs of the Indonesian market while ensuring timely fulfilment of our delivery promise made at the last GIIAS event. Consumers can expect to receive their units in December," stated Rifkie Setiawan, Head of the Brand Department at Chery Sales Indonesia.
Rifkie also highlighted the significance of the J6's presence at GJAW 2024, describing it as a pivotal opportunity for consumers to experience the advantages of an electric vehicle with light off-road capabilities.
"Visitors will not only have the chance to view the product but also to test its performance, as we have prepared three test drive units for the event," he further added.
The J6, the second electric SUV produced in Indonesia following the Omoda E5, boasts a distinctive boxy and eye-catching design. It is built on a superior all-aluminium structure, lending a unique identity and robust character to its owners.
It will be available in two variants: All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD). It offers high performance for challenging terrains while maintaining comfort and luxury. Key premium features include massage seats, 12 Harman Infinity speakers, ventilated seats across all rows, and a 15.6-inch touchscreen display.
The J6's handling is enhanced by an Aluminium H-arm suspension, commonly found in luxury vehicles. This technology ensures maximum comfort, corrosion resistance, and vehicle stability across diverse terrains.
Additional features include the robust Armour Battery system with IP67, IPX8, and IPX9K protection, as well as 19-inch rims designed to withstand extreme conditions.
In terms of range, the RWD variant offers up to 426 km, while the AWD variant provides 418 km, based on the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) standard.
The AWD variant, which features an Intelligent Wheels Drive (IWD) system, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. The IWD system is an advanced all-wheel-drive setup that independently distributes power to each wheel, optimising traction according to specific driving needs.
