Chery, a prominent Chinese brand keen on expanding into the Taiwan market, has officially disclosed its strategy for entering Taiwan along with its initial product lineup.
In addition to establishing multiple Facebook pages tailored for Taiwan, Chery has been actively engaging with local automotive media. According to company sources, the initial approach will involve importing fully assembled vehicles from other markets for sale in Taiwan.
However, due to considerations such as factory planning and Taiwan's new car certification process, while efforts are underway to launch officially by the fourth quarter of this year, there is a possibility that the launch could be delayed to the first quarter of 2025.
As for the products slated for import, Taiwanese consumers can anticipate the introduction of the Omoda and Jaecoo models initially. The Omoda C5, positioned as a compact SUV, is expected to feature a 1.5-litre turbo engine. Meanwhile, the Jaecoo 7, recognised as a popular mid-size SUV, will also make its debut.
