Chinese truck makers in emissions-compliance pact
China Automotive Review, 17 Jun '14

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the No. 27 announcement on April 14th, clearing up the deadline of phasing out State-III emissions standards-compliant vehicles as of the end of 2014.

According to China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), members of China Truck Manufacturers Association signed a self-discipline commitment on May 20th in Beijing about strictly enforcing the State-IV emissions standards.

The members promise to ensure that all State-IV emissions standards-compliant heavy-duty diesel trucks adopt electronic-control diesel supply system, not non-classical technical routes that tend to cause market chaos. They will also ensure diesel heavy-duty trucks are produced and comply with the State-IV emissions standards and prevent selling State-III and below vehicles posing as State-IV vehicles.

The members also promise to enforce industry self-discipline, and coordinate with the supervision and inspection of the government, as well as mutual supervision.

With a first violation, the enterprise should make public written statement of repentance. A second violation will lead to membership cancellation. The commitment went into effect from the date of signing.

All members of the association signed the commitment, including FAW Jiefang Automobile, Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle, Shaanxi Automobile Group, China National Heavy-Duty Truck, Beiqi-Foton Motor, SAIC-IVECO-Hongyan Commercial Vehicle, Anhui Jianghuai Automobile, and Dongfeng Automobile.
