Evolution Auto has announced the launch of the Riddara RD6 Active, an all-electric double-cab pickup, unveiled at the BMICH Motor Show is held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The RD6 Active is designed to combine the practicality of a pickup with features commonly associated with SUVs, aiming to increase the accessibility and relevance of electric double-cabs for Sri Lankan users.
Positioned as the most affordable electric pickup in its class, the RD6 Active is intended to meet the needs of Sri Lanka's youth, professionals, families, and adventure seekers, providing electric performance while maintaining comfort, functionality, and everyday usability.
Built on a globally recognised electric platform, the RD6 Active provides a driving experience similar to that of an SUV, while retaining the functionality expected from a double-cab. The vehicle offers a range of up to 373 kilometres on a single charge, suitable for daily work requirements and weekend trips.
The RD6 Active is equipped with an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, a digital driver instrument cluster, electric driver-side seats, leather upholstery, and 17-inch alloy wheels, among other comfort and technological features. Safety systems are included, and fast-charging capability is supported.
The RD6 Active is an alternative to traditional diesel double-cabs, offering lower operating and maintenance costs, reduced environmental impact, and quieter performance, without reducing torque or road presence.
The vehicle is capable of handling local road conditions, and the growing charging infrastructure in Sri Lanka, along with the option of home charging, supports the use of electric mobility.
Evolution Auto provides warranties, service guidelines, and trained EV technicians to support the Riddara brand. A specialised EV workshop in Peliyagoda has been established to support after-sales service.
At the launch, Virann de Zoyza, Group CEO of Evolution Auto, stated: "The launch of the RD6 Active contributes to Sri Lanka's transition to electric vehicles. Its unveiling at the BMICH Motor Show reflects confidence in both the vehicle and the market's readiness."
