GAC Indonesia has confirmed that it will launch a new MPV for the Indonesian market, namely the E9.
This model has previously appeared in public, including during the inauguration of the GAC Aion factory in mid-2025.
"As stated earlier, Indonesia will begin introducing 7-passenger MPVs, starting with the E9," said Andry in Beijing, China, on April 24th, 2026.
"Regarding subsequent models, there will also be SUVs, electric SUVs, and new technologies," he further added.
With the introduction of this model, GAC Indonesia will enter the premium MPV segment, which is currently occupied by several established models such as the Toyota Alphard and the Denza D9. The E9 PHEV adopts a premium vehicle concept, featuring a luxurious design, a spacious cabin, and a futuristic character.
"Further details will be revealed at the upcoming auto show," Andry stated.
Technically, the vehicle is equipped with a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) system that combines a 2.0-litre petrol engine with an electric motor. The total power output is rated at 378 PS, with a maximum torque of 630 Nm.
In pure electric mode, the vehicle is claimed to offer a driving range of up to 136 kilometres. When both the petrol engine and electric motor operate together, the combined range is stated to reach 1,032 kilometres without the need for refuelling or recharging.
In terms of dimensions, the E9 PHEV measures 5,212 mm in length, 1,893 mm in width, and 1,823 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,070 mm. This makes it larger than the Toyota Alphard, which measures 5,010 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,945 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.
However, it remains smaller than the Denza D9, which measures 5,250 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,920 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,110 mm.
