Hawtai to launch B35 SUV by 2010 end
China Car Times, 16 Nov '10

Hawtai slipped a major surprise into the Beijing Auto Show earlier 2010 when they showed off their new sedan range and also their new Porsche Cayenne inspired SUV, the B35.

The B35 may have the Cayenne's looks but it is actually riding on the last generation of Hyundai Sante Fé platform that Hawtai purchased from its previous JV partner, Hyundai. At the time of launch both diesel and petrol engines will be available as will automatic and manual gearboxes, although the recent bad news regarding diesel shortages in China might kill off early interest in the diesel model.

The B35 will come with a wheelbase of 2620mm, making it slightly longer than the Sante Fé, and will also ride on 20inch wheels - an usual rubber choice for a Chinese car in a market where smaller wheels are preferred for their economy improving ability. SAIC's 1.8T engine will be available, but Hawtai's 2.0T and 2.8T diesel engines will be available for use in early 2011.
