Honda to launch all-new ZR-V, facelifted City on May 22nd
Autocar India, 28 Apr '26
Sources indicate that Honda Cars India is preparing to launch the City facelift and the ZR-V on May 22nd, 2026.
Earlier media reports had outlined the planned introduction of these Honda models, with the ZR-V arriving as a new nameplate for the company's India operations. The ZR-V is expected to be part of a new range of models from Honda, reflecting a focus on the Indian market.
India-spec all-new ZR-V
The ZR-V is expected to be introduced in India as a completely built unit (CBU) import, positioned within Honda's SUV portfolio.
At an expected price range of Rs. 4 million to Rs. 5 million (US$ 42,360-52,950), the model is likely to compete with five-seat SUVs such as the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Skoda Kodiaq. In contrast to the Honda Elevate, which features a more upright and squared-off design, the ZR-V adopts a rounded SUV profile.
Global-specification ZR-V models measure approximately 4,568mm in length, 1,840mm in width, 1,620mm in height and 2,657mm in wheelbase; the India-spec version is expected to have similar dimensions.
In terms of features, the model is equipped with a freestanding infotainment touchscreen, a powered driver's seat, dual-zone climate control, an advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) suite, a powered tailgate, a wireless charging pad and other equipment.
The India-spec ZR-V is expected to be offered with a 182 PS 2.0-litre four-cylinder hybrid powertrain, paired with an e-CVT automatic transmission.
City facelift
This will be the second facelift of the fifth-generation Honda City, following the update introduced in 2023. Exterior changes for the 2026 update are expected to be limited to revisions to components such as the headlamps, tail-lamps, bumpers and wheels. Interior updates are expected, particularly in terms of features, as the City currently trails competitors such as the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia in this area.
Accordingly, the 2026 City facelift may include features such as a powered driver's seat, ventilated front seats, a larger infotainment touchscreen with updated software, a digital driver's display and an optional 360-degree camera, among other additions.
Under the bonnet, the updated City is expected to retain the existing 123 PS 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and the 128 PS hybrid powertrain, along with their respective manual and CVT transmission options.
