The mid-size cruiser motorcycle segment in Vietnam now has a new competitor, the Kawasaki Eliminator 500, taking on the Honda Rebel 500.
Following the Ninja 500 and Z500, Kawasaki Vietnam continues to offer domestic customers a new model priced under VND 200 million (US$ 8,140), the Eliminator 500. With a suggested retail price of VND 182.8 million, the Kawasaki Eliminator 500 is slightly more expensive than its rival, the Honda Rebel 500 (VND 181.3 million).
As a street cruiser primarily designed for urban use and short trips, the Eliminator 500 blends classic style with modern design elements, targeting middle-aged customers.
Featuring a tubular frame and an exposed engine, the Eliminator 500 boasts a robust appearance, while the large teardrop-shaped fuel tank and round headlights are distinctive features of this Japanese cruiser. With a seat height of 735 mm, it is easy for riders to put their feet on the ground, and the riding position is comfortable, thanks to its high handlebars and well-placed footrests.
Compared to the Rebel 500, Kawasaki's model is slightly larger, measuring 2,250 x 785 x 1,100 mm (L x W x H), with a wheelbase of 1,520 mm and a ground clearance of 150 mm. Despite its larger size, the Eliminator 500 is lighter than its competitor, weighing 176 kg.
Key features of the Kawasaki Eliminator 500 include a Full-LED lighting system, a monochrome LCD dashboard, smartphone connectivity via the Rideology app, a 2-channel ABS braking system, an 18-inch front wheel, and a 16-inch rear wheel.
Like the Ninja 500 and Z500, the Kawasaki Eliminator 500 is powered by a 2-cylinder inline engine with a displacement of 451 cc, delivering a maximum power output of 45 PS at 9,000 rpm and 42.6 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. Although these figures are slightly lower than those of the Rebel 500, the Eliminator 500 still comes with a 6-speed manual transmission, equipped with a slipper clutch and A&S shift assist.
