The Land Transportation Office (LTO) of Philippines has postponed the strict enforcement of existing regulations on Light Electric Vehicles (LEVs), commonly referred to as e-bikes, until January 2nd, 2026, following significant public opposition to the ban.
A nationwide information campaign will commence on December 1st.
LTO Chief Markus Lacanilao stated that the decision followed consideration of public concerns by national leaders.
He confirmed that no impounding operations will occur during the information campaign, which aims to ensure adequate public awareness of the regulations.
LTO personnel will be deployed across major roads from December 1st, 2025, to provide guidance on the proper use of LEVs.
Effective January 2nd, 2026, the LTO will implement full enforcement, including measures against violators operating on national highways.
The agency emphasised that the objective is to maintain safe and orderly roads by ensuring clear accountability for all road users, including operators of e-bikes, e-trikes, and other LEVs.
