Lexus Manila unveiled the new IS 350 sedan, including the F Sport variant, at the brand's Bonifacio Global City showroom.

Lexus promises dynamic handling thanks to a more rigid body, made possible by laser welding and adhesive body-bonding techniques. Wheelbase has been increased by 70mm, with width increased by 12mm, to benefit the interior space.

The IS features as its "base engine," the same 3.5-litre V6 with direct injection, producing a healthy 306 hp and 376 Nm. New is the eight-speed automatic first seen on the IS-F with the 5.0 V8 engine, and according to Lexus officers, this makes a world of difference in the car's performance. The transmission features paddle shifters and a shift program that takes into account G forces for optimum gear selection.

Drive Mode select allows the driver to choose from Eco, Normal and Sport, with the IS 350 F Sport adding Sport S and Sport S+. The system tweaks the suspension firmness, with the

The F Sport features 18-inch wheels with a more handling-oriented suspension, with exterior and interior appearance upgrades included. A new rear sub-frame and cowl side braces improve handling control and steering response.

The cockpit is something to behold, with deeply-recessed surfaces, intriguing textures, and a TFT-screen instrument panel that is similar to the LFA's. Dual-zone aircon, two multimedia systems, and a navigation system are available. Safety includes ten airbags, ABS, traction control, and stability control.

Lexus IS 350 goes for PHP 2,548,000 (US$ 59,500) and the Lexus IS 350 F Sport for PHP 3,058,000.
