The iCAUR 03 RWD (rear-wheel drive) has been launched in Malaysia with local assembly, expanding the locally assembled 03 line-up following the introduction of the all-wheel-drive 03 iWD completely knocked-down (CKD) variant in May 2026. Production of the RWD variant officially began in September 2026, with first-batch deliveries scheduled for October. Local assembly units are currently available in limited supply.

Priced at MYR 119,740 (US$ 29,300) on the road without insurance, the iCAUR 03 RWD CKD is MYR 60 lower than the completely built-up (CBU) model's MYR 119,800 price. The difference is reportedly due to the removal of the mandatory inspection fee applicable to CBU vehicles. iCAUR Malaysia had previously indicated that CKD pricing would remain closely aligned with CBU rates.

The introductory price includes a seven-year/150,000km vehicle warranty. Battery warranty coverage differs between the company's stated information. Launch details specify an eight-year/160,000km battery warranty, with one-to-one replacement if battery health falls below 70%. Meanwhile, iCAUR Malaysia's CKD warranty information states a 10-year/200,000km warranty covering the high-voltage battery, drive unit and associated components, with one-to-one battery replacement if State of Health (SoH) falls below 60%.

Customers can also choose the Black Phantom or Phantom Edition for an additional MYR 20,000. The package adds an all-black finish, bodykit and aggressive body panels, wheel-arch extensions, a roof rack, a side box and a side ladder.

The iCAUR 03 RWD retains the specifications, features and performance of the imported version. It uses a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 135kW (184PS) and 220Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0-100km/h in 10.5 seconds and a top speed of 150km/h. Five selectable driving modes are available.

Power comes from a 65.7kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, providing a claimed NEDC range of 426km and an estimated WLTP range of around 360-362km. DC fast charging is supported at up to 80kW, taking around 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%, while AC charging is limited to 6.6kW. The vehicle-to-load (V2L) function can supply around 3.2-3.3kW to external electrical equipment.

The boxy electric SUV measures approximately 4.4 metres long, 1.9 metres wide and 1.7 metres high, with a 2.7-metre wheelbase. Boot capacity is 450 litres, expanding to 1,238 litres with the rear seats folded, while a 40-litre storage compartment is integrated into the tailgate.

The 03 retains its Boxy Retro Classic styling. The RWD model features full-LED exterior lighting, roof rails, a sideways-opening tailgate with a storage "backpack", 18-inch five-spoke grey alloy wheels, keyless entry with proximity locking, an NFC key card and push-button start.

The cabin includes rear air-conditioning vents, power-adjustable seats with driver-seat memory and one-touch recline, ventilated front and rear seats, faux leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting.

While iCAUR Malaysia has not released images of the CKD RWD model, differences from the CBU version are expected to be limited and similar to those introduced on the CKD all-wheel-drive variant. These include replacing Chaoyang tyres with Giti tyres and removing the VIN number display from the windscreen.

The iCAUR 03 CKD is the first iCAUR electric vehicle assembled in Malaysia and the second Chery Group EV to undergo local assembly in the country, following the Chery Omoda E5. The iCAUR 03 is assembled at the Chery Corporate Malaysia plant in Shah Alam, while the Omoda E5 is produced at the Inokom facility in Kulim, Kedah. The iCAUR V23 has also since entered local assembly.

With the launch of the 03 RWD CKD, the locally assembled iCAUR 03 range now comprises both RWD and all-wheel-drive variants. The local production programme retains the model's core specifications, technology and retro-inspired design.
