The all-new MG ZS HEV Hybrid+ (right-hand drive) was launched in the United Kingdom in August 2024, followed by its introduction in Australia in October 2024.
This second-generation model features the HEV Hybrid+ powertrain derived from its smaller sibling, the MG 3.
Recently, MG Thailand announced plans to introduce its B-SUV Hybrid+, the ZS Hybrid+, in Thailand by 2026. The model is positioned as a competitor to the Toyota Yaris Cross and is intended to strengthen market share and support sales growth.
Powertrain
- Hybrid+ (UK version)
The 1.5-litre, four-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine produces a maximum output of 104 PS at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 128 Nm at 4,500 rpm. This is paired with an electric motor delivering a maximum output of 138 PS and 250 Nm of torque.
When operating in combination, the engine and electric motor produce a total system output of 196 PS and 465 Nm of torque.
Power is transmitted through an E-AT automatic transmission featuring three gear ratio programmes. The system utilises a 1.83 kWh lithium-ion battery and emits 115 grams /km of CO2.
Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is achieved in 8.7 seconds, and the top speed is 167 km/h.
Pricing
In the UK market, the ZS Hybrid+ is priced approximately GBP 3,500 (US$ 4,745) higher than the 3 Hybrid+.
In Thailand, the ZS Hybrid+ is expected to be priced between THB 699,000 and THB 799,000 (US$ 22,495-25,715).
Based on comparisons with UK pricing, it is anticipated to be positioned below the Toyota Yaris Cross in the Thai market.
MG Thailand has confirmed plans to launch the ZS Hybrid+ in Thailand by 2026, where it will compete directly in the B-SUV segment and is intended to expand the company's presence in the hybrid vehicle market.
