Mercedes-Benz C 200 AMG Grand Edition revealed
Paul Tan, 23 May '14
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has quietly put up a new variant of the W204 C-Class on its website and Facebook page, called the Mercedes-Benz C 200 AMG Grand Edition. Essentially a C 200 Avantgarde with an AMG Sport styling package, the Grand Edition gets a new front apron, side skirts and rear diffuser design, as well as 18-inch AMG five split-spoke alloy wheels with tyres measuring 225/40 at the front and 255/35 at the back. No other details are known about this new variant, but the specs and equipment levels of the car elsewhere should remain the same, with a 1.8 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with stop-start producing 184 hp and 250 Nm, mated to a seven-speed 7G-Tronic Plus automatic. The new kit has not raised the price. In fact, the C 200 AMG Grand Edition now retails at RM242,888 on the road without insurance, a whole RM12,000 less than the regular C 200 Avantgarde. In addition, MBM's Hire Purchase Agility financing deal allows you to own the car for RM103 a day through a five-year tenure. The Grand Edition comes with a four-year unlimited-mileage warranty. With added equipment and a reduced price, this is almost certainly a run-out model, which means that MBM must be clearing stocks in anticipation of the local launch of the new W205 C-Class. Shouldn't be too long now, really.
