Risk of power failure has led to the recall of certain examples of the Mercedes-Benz EQS electric car in Australia.
The 143 affected vehicles are stamped Model Years 2021-2022.
Mercedes-Benz EQS 53, EQS 450 and EQS 500 variants are impacted.
"Due to a software issue, the electric vehicle drivetrain system may deactivate resulting in a loss of motive power," the recall notice says.
"A loss of motive power whilst driving increases the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.
"Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Mercedes-Benz and are asked to make an arrangement with their nearest authorised Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the work carried out as soon as possible."
A spokesperson for Mercedes-Benz Australia told media the ACCC prevents manufacturers from disclosing if vehicles have been impacted locally. All owners are urged to have their car repaired.
