Mitsubishi gains approval for new Triton GLX variants launch
Auto Industria, 10 Jun '25
Last week, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand revealed the 2025 Triton.
While it did not receive a major change, the manufacturer removed chrome elements from the non-Athlete variants to alter the exterior styling.
Mitsubishi also introduced new features in the 2025 Triton, including the nanoe x air purification system and Heat Guard leather seats, which are intended to reduce heat retention in the upholstery.
One week later, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) appears to be preparing to introduce the updated Triton to the domestic market.
This follows the release of new homologation documents by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) related to the forthcoming pick-up truck.
According to recent memorandum circulars, the LTO has approved several variants of the Mitsubishi Triton. These approved variants are listed as 2026 model year vehicles. As with the revised Mirage G4, the updated Triton is scheduled to be released under the 2026 model designation.
Based on the LTO documents, MMPC has so far received approval for the GLX variants, specifically the 4x2 Manual, 4x4 Manual, and 4x2 Automatic.
All of the approved variants will be fitted with a 2,442cc turbo-diesel engine, confirming the continued use of the 2.4-litre 4N16 engine for the 2026 model year.
There is currently no listing for the GL, GLS, or Athlete variants of the 2026 Triton. It is possible that the GLX variants were the first to complete the approval process, and the remaining variants may still be under review. Updates will be monitored as new information becomes available.
Following the recent update to the Mirage G4, Mitsubishi is now addressing the Triton. The launch date for the updated model in the local market has yet to be announced.
