The new 11th-generation Toyota Corolla Altis made its debut in India at the 2014 Auto Expo and has now been officially launched in the market.

The new Altis starts from Rs. 1,199,000 (US$ 20,291) for the base petrol J (S) manual, going up to Rs. 1,689,000 for the fully-loaded VL (CVT) petrol automatic, with diesel models slotted in between and all prices ex-showroom, Delhi.

Toyota dealers had started accepting bookings for the new Corolla Altis in March with a deposit of Rs. 50,000 and deliveries are scheduled to commence now the car has been launched.

The new Altis features far more striking styling than its predecessor, with many details borrowed from the Camry and Furia concept car shown in Detroit in 2013. Interiors too have been given a significant update, with a more generous equipment list as well.

At 4,620 mm in length, 1,776 mm in width and 1,475 mm in height, the new Toyota Corolla Altis is longer and wider than before. Its 2,700 mm wheelbase is a whole 100 mm longer too, liberating much greater legroom for rear seat passengers.

The new Corolla uses the same 1,798 cc petrol and 1,364 cc diesel engines as the previous car. Both engines get six-speed manual gearboxes although the petrol can be had with a seven-step CVT automatic gearbox as well.
