The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has released vehicle sales data for the month of October 2019. A total of 53,870 units were delivered last month, which is 9,204 units - or 20.61% - more than the 44,666 units recorded in September.
The association said the improvement in numbers is due to a longer working month as well as from consumers taking advantage of numerous year-end promotional campaigns.
The facelifted Perodua Axia, which was launched in September, would have contributed to the higher numbers for the month.
Year-on-year numbers for the month continue to be ahead compared to October last year, in this case by 6,597 units, while year-to-date total industry volume (TIV) over the 10 months of the year has seen 496,861 vehicles being shifted, which is 5,267 units - or 1.05% - less than the corresponding period in 2018.
For the month of November 2019, the association expects the sales volume to be maintained at October levels.
