Roadmap to apply new emission standards in Vietnam
Dantri.com.vn, 5 Sep '11

From January 1st, 2017, all two-wheelers sold in Vietnam (either assembled locally or imported) will have to comply with Euro 3 emission standards, while all passenger cars will have to comply with Euro 4 standards.

Additionally, passenger cars will have to meet Euro 5 emission standards by January 1st, 2022. Currently, both two- and four-wheelers only need to comply with Euro 2 emission standards.

The emission standards were announced on September 1st, via Decision No. 49/2011/QD-TTg issued by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. According to the decree, fuel standards must reach the proposed Euro 4 and 5 levels exactly one year before the above deadlines, respectively.
