Ryde group to accelerate EV adoption with 1,200 EVs by 2027
Accesswire, 31 Dec '24
Ryde Group, a technology company with a platform for mobility and quick commerce in Singapore, is advancing the green mobility transition through its RydeGreen Programme.
This initiative aims to promote electric vehicle (EV) adoption, support driver-partners, and reduce carbon emissions.
As part of this initiative, Ryde plans to introduce an additional 1,200 EVs under the RydeGreen Programme by 2027.
In partnership with Singapore Electric Vehicles (SEV), the largest EV leasing company in Singapore, this programme provides driver-partners with affordable EV leasing options and access to a comprehensive charging network. SEV's collaboration with its partners aims to install up to 250 charging stations across Singapore by 2030, enhancing this network.
The RydeGreen Programme aligns with Ryde's goal to improve urban mobility by supporting the adoption of greener transport solutions.
It also serves as a strategic effort to strengthen Ryde's market position and foster revenue growth, particularly through partnerships such as that with SEV, which operates the largest commercial electric vehicle fleet in Singapore.
Through this collaboration, Ryde and SEV aim to accelerate EV adoption, targeting the addition of 1,200 EVs by 2027, including 900 EVs by 2026 and 600 EVs by 2025. The partnership with SEV ensures affordable leasing options for driver-partners.
Additionally, SEV's collaboration with key partners will improve access to an expanding charging network, making EV use more convenient and reliable.
To further engage driver-partners, Ryde plans to offer financial incentives. Driver-partners leasing EVs through SEV will receive a monthly Green Bonus, with Ryde committing over SGD 1 million (US$ 735,905) to support its driver-partners.
Affordable EV rental options are also available to help maintain financial stability and operational efficiency.
Ryde's investment in green mobility also aligns with the Singapore Green Plan 2030. By promoting the transition to cleaner energy and reducing dependence on fossil fuels, Ryde contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions.
The company supports Singapore's emission reduction targets by providing sustainable transportation solutions and using AI-powered routing algorithms to optimise routes and minimise carbon emissions.
Through its EV adoption strategy, Ryde is positioning itself for long-term growth. The expansion of EV adoption under the RydeGreen Programme is expected to generate increased revenue through more EV trip bookings.
As Singapore continues its transition to green mobility, Ryde's approach ensures its competitiveness in the evolving market.
Strategic partnership driving green mobility
The collaboration between Ryde and SEV combines the strengths of both companies to accelerate EV adoption within the ride-hailing sector.
By integrating Ryde's AI-powered routing capabilities with SEV's expertise in fleet management, the programme enhances access to electric vehicles and supports cleaner transportation solutions.
Terence Zou, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Ryde Group, said, "Through the RydeGreen Programme and our partnership with SEV, we aim to contribute to Singapore's transition to a sustainable mobility ecosystem, in line with the goals of the Singapore Green Plan 2030."
Steven Kwek, chief operating officer (COO) of SEV, further added, "We are pleased to collaborate with Ryde to expand the EV fleet under the RydeGreen Programme and support Singapore's sustainability goals for urban mobility."
