Skoda India to launch Yeti face-lift in July
MotorBeam, 17 May '14

Showcased at the 2014 India Auto Expo in February, Skoda India will be launching the face-lifted version of the Yeti in the country in July.

The updated Skoda Yeti gets a host of changes featuring new styling and improved interiors for a fresh appeal.

Exterior updates on the 2014 Yeti include a re-designed front fascia which gets a new grille featuring the butterfly design, new bumpers and revised headlamp cluster that gets integrated LED lights and projectors. The fog lamps have been moved down to the bumper and look sleeker than ever.

The face-lift gets sharper lines that induce freshness into the design.

Changes to the side are minimal but the car now sports a new set of alloy wheels.

At the rear there are mild changes including LED taillights and a revised bumper design.

The cabin is updated with cosmetic tweaks that include the new three-spoke steering wheel and updated upholstery.

The feature list on the 2014 Yeti includes dual-zone AC, cruise-control, powered driver's seat, panoramic sunroof, individually folding rear seats, optical parking assistant and a lot more.

It will continue to be powered by the same 2-litre TDI diesel engine that is available in two states of tune.

The version with 110 BHP and 250 Nm comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the front wheels while the variant with 140 BHP and 320 Nm comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission that sends power to all four wheels.

Skoda could update the Yeti with a DSG automatic gearbox as well.

While the current Yeti did not really sell as Skoda would have hoped for, the company is optimistic that re-positioning the SUV as an urban crossover will lure more customers towards the vehicle.

We expect Skoda to revise prices marginally while trim options will mostly remain the same.

The current Yeti line-up starts at Rs. 1,519,000 (US$ 25,953) ex-showroom, Delhi.
