Skoda has started accepting customer orders for the 2027 model-year (MY27) Octavia and Kodiaq in Australia, with both models receiving new mild-hybrid powertrains and the Kodiaq also gaining a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant.

The range now includes electrified powertrains, while the RS grades continue with petrol engines.

The MY27 Kodiaq is being assembled in Czechia for the Australian market and is available in new front-wheel-drive (FWD) Select mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid grades, alongside the 195 kW (265 PS), 400 Nm RS all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant. Skoda Australia is also reviewing the future availability of the existing 140TSI Select and Sportline AWD grades, while the 140TSI remains available from existing vehicle stock.

"The 140TSI for Kodiaq remains available through existing vehicle stock," a Skoda Australia spokesperson said.

The Kodiaq 140TSI Select and Sportline were launched in Australia last year with a 140 kW (190 PS), 320 Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. These variants are currently under review as Skoda shifts towards the new mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions.

The new Kodiaq Select mild-hybrid is available with five or seven seats from AUD 49,990 (US$ 35,840) or AUD 51,990 (US$ 37,270) drive-away, respectively. The lower entry price is achieved through reduced power and the removal of some standard equipment.

The Kodiaq and Octavia mild-hybrid variants use a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The powertrain produces 110 kW (150 PS) and 250 Nm.

In the Kodiaq, combined fuel consumption falls from 9.0 litres/100 km in the 140TSI Select AWD to 6.0 litres/100 km in the Select MHEV FWD, a reduction of 3.0 litres/100 km that contributes to Skoda's compliance with Australia's New Vehicle Efficiency Standard.

The Kodiaq Select plug-in hybrid uses a 25.7 kWh battery pack and an 85 kW (116 PS), 330 Nm electric motor, giving it a combined system output of 150 kW (204 PS) and 350 Nm. It has a 112 km WLTP electric-only driving range and is available for AUD 63,490 before on-road costs. The PHEV is offered exclusively with five seats because its high-voltage battery is positioned beneath the boot floor.

The MY27 Octavia also receives the new 1.5-litre mild-hybrid powertrain, replacing the outgoing 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The new engine is paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, replacing the previous eight-speed torque-converter automatic. It continues to produce 110 kW (150 PS) and 250 Nm.

The updated Octavia Select MHEV is priced from AUD 41,990 before on-road costs, with a AUD 43,990 national drive-away deal expected to remain in place. This represents an increase of around AUD 2,000 over the discontinued non-electrified version.

Claimed fuel consumption drops from 6.1 litres/100 km and 6.2 litres/100 km in the outgoing Octavia liftback and wagon, respectively, to 5.1 litres/100 km and 5.2 litres/100 km with the new mild-hybrid powertrain.

The non-hybrid Octavia 110TSI Sportline liftback and wagon have been discontinued in Australia, leaving the Select MHEV and RS variants. The RS retains its 195 kW (265 PS), 370 Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.

The Octavia Select MHEV features 17-inch alloy wheels instead of the previous 18-inch units and no longer includes dashboard ambient lighting and acoustic front side windows. It gains a hands-free electric tailgate, front cross-traffic alert and walk-away door locking.

An optional AUD 6,500 Signature Package restores the 18-inch alloy wheels and adds black or Cognac leather seats, a head-up display, heated, massaging, ventilated and power-adjustable front seats, rear privacy glass, matrix LED headlights and auto-dimming side mirrors with memory.

The 2027 Octavia and Kodiaq are now available to order in Australia, while 2026 versions remain available from dealer stock.
