On October 29th, Xpeng launched the G9L SUV in Hong Kong.
It is available in two variants: an Ultra six-seater and an Ultra seven-seater, both equipped with an extended-range all-wheel-drive powertrain. Prices start at HKD 759,900 (US$ 96,875) and HKD 699,900 (US$ 89,225), respectively.
Like the L03 previously introduced in Hong Kong, the G9L was designed by a team led by Juan Ma Lopez, the former head of exterior design at Ferrari. The front features a continuous LED headlight assembly and a grille with an active air intake system integrated into the bumper. The headlights on both sides also incorporate AI-powered digital projection functions, supporting various interactive projection effects.
The G9L measures 5,120mm in length, 1,999mm in width and 1,782mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,100mm. The SUV has a drag coefficient of 0.258. At the rear, it features a continuous smoked taillight design with upward-sweeping lines on both sides.
On the inside, it features a floating central touchscreen and an 88-inch augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD). The centre console incorporates two 50W intelligent retractable wireless charging pads, a 9-inch electronic rear-view camera display and a 21.4-inch rear entertainment screen.
Other equipment includes a dual-zone refrigerator, a 33-speaker audio system and AI-powered active-fit seats for all occupants, designed to accommodate passengers of different sizes. The seats can be folded at the touch of a button without requiring the headrests to be removed beforehand. This has been described as a world-first design.
The G9L is equipped with up to 33 sensing hardware components. Standard equipment includes the XPILOT intelligent parking assist system, which integrates several functions: intelligent parking assist (APA), automatic parking exit assist (AEP), custom parking, reverse tracing, remote parking assist (RPA) and reverse parking system (RVS). These functions assist drivers with parking in confined spaces, including those commonly found in Hong Kong.
It incorporates 14 active safety features and the XPILOT intelligent driver assistance system. The latter includes adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane centring control (LCC) and automatic lane change (ALC). These systems assist with vehicle control and lane management. The vehicle also supports lifetime free over-the-air (OTA) updates.
The G9L uses an 800V high-voltage platform paired with 5C battery technology. In ultra-fast charging mode, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in 10.9 minutes. The Kunpeng Super Range Extender system produces a maximum output of 370 kW (503 PS) and maximum torque of 695 Nm, enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. The system provides a WLTP combined driving range of up to 1,154 km. The vehicle has a WLTP energy consumption figure of 23.8 kWh per 100 kilometres, supported by intelligent energy management technology.
The G9L's chassis features front and rear dual-chamber air suspension and a DCC intelligent variable damping shock absorber system.
