Yamaha launches updated Sniper 155 in local market
Top Gear Philippines, 9 May '24
Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH) has now launched the updated Yamaha Sniper 155.
Two variants are available for the 2024 Yamaha Sniper 155. The standard non-ABS variant stickers for PHP 125,900 (US$ 2,100), while the higher ABS trim goes for PHP 145,900.
The new model bears the signature Sniper styling with sharp fairings from front to rear. A small plastic trim covers the instrument cluster up top, and the headlight and DRLs are found below. The bike also sits on coloured wheels that match each specific colourway.
Sniper gets 17-inch tyres in 90/80-17 46P front and 120/70-17 58P rear. As far as dimensions go, the Sniper 155 measures 1,975mm length, 665mm width, and 1,105mm height.
It has a 1,290mm wheelbase, a minimum ground clearance of 150mm, and a 5.4-litre fuel tank. Seat height is listed at 795mm, and curb weight is at 119kg for the standard 155 and 123kg for the R version.
Three colours are available for the Sniper 155 range. The standard 155 comes in Race Blu and Cyan, while the 155R comes exclusively in Matte Black.
Engine and specs
Sniper 155 comes with a lone engine option, and that's the familiar 155cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder SOHC powertrain that churns out 17.65 PS at 9,500rpm and 14.4 Nm of torque at 8,000rpm. This engine is mated to a six-speed constant mesh manual gearbox with a wet/slipper clutch.
The bike gets a telescopic fork up front and a swingarm out back. Stopping power is handled by hydraulic single disc brakes all around. The 155R gets a two-pot brake caliper up front.
Extra features
As implied earlier, the Sniper 155R comes equipped with ABS, while the lower trim does not. The higher variant also gets a 12V DC power socket and a smart key system. Standard features here include the digital instrument panel, LED headlights, and LED taillights.
