The automotive industry of Taiwan is undergoing structural changes, with the Yulon Group at the centre of recent developments that may influence the nation's electric vehicle sector.
The company has approved adjustments to its management structure at Yulon Nissan Motor, appointing Mr. Lee Chang-yi, former President of Sime Darby Kia Taiwan, as Vice President, effective November 6th, 2025. Mr. Lee has previously held positions as Marketing Assistant Manager at Luxgen and Sales Director at Audi Taiwan.
At the same time, market reports suggest that Foxconn may acquire Luxgen, which would allow the technology company to enter the electric vehicle market under its Foxtron brand.
According to Yulon Nissan, the company is adapting to the ongoing transition of the automotive industry towards electrification and intelligent mobility, as well as increased competition in Taiwan's automotive market.
It plans to improve organisational agility and operational flexibility, focusing on brand development, marketing innovation, service quality, and channel optimisation to maintain stability amid industry changes.
In addition to management changes, another topic concerning the Yulon Group is the uncertain launch of the Luxgen n5, now complicated by the emergence of the name Foxtron Bria. This has led to speculation that Foxconn may release the model under its own brand.
Reports indicate that Yulon plans to transfer its Luxgen shares to its joint venture, Hon Hua Advanced Technology, allowing Foxconn to indirectly acquire a stake in Luxgen and take greater control of the brand's operations.
Market analysts view this partnership as part of Foxconn's efforts to achieve vertical integration in the electric vehicle sector and expand its contract design and manufacturing services (CDMS) model.
For Yulon, reducing its stake in Luxgen aligns with its domestic EV strategy and allows collaboration with Foxconn to bring the Foxtron brand to international markets while increasing utilisation of Yulon's Sanyi manufacturing facility.
