Local Audi distributor Euromobil has launched the latest generation model of the A6 luxury mid-sized sedan for the Malaysian market.

The luxury executive model was unveiled at the Audi Kuala Lumpur showroom along Jalan Imbi last on 2nd September, featuring its lightweight body construction that consists of various aluminium components.

According to Datuk Sri Mohd Khamil Jamil, group managing director for DRB-Hicom, "In 2011, Euromobil sold 1,000 cars, which is a 30% increase from the previous year." He also mentioned that for every single Audi they sell, the grey importers sold 1.5 units of the brand.

"This proves there is strong demand for Audi," said Mohd Khamil. He also believed that Volkswagen's aggressive move in Malaysia will only benefit Audi as it is under the same group. Furthermore, DRB-Hicom is also the contract assembler for Volkswagen.

Khamil also revealed that Audi is planning to locally assemble the brand in DRB's plant in Pekan by end of 2012 or early 2013. However, he could not confirm the model.

Audi fans can expect an Audi Approved Plus centre to be open this October. The centre will offer Audi's pre-owned cars at attractive retail prices, which has gone through a stringent safety and mechanical 110-point check with proper road tests by qualified Audi engineers.

Next year, Euromobil will open an Audi showroom in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, a move which will definitely spur further growth for the brand.

The Audi A6 3.0 TFSI is priced at RM 515,000 (US$ 170,500), on-the-road without insurance. That pricing puts the A6 above the Mercedes-Benz E300 Avantgarde CKD (RM 455,888) and below the BMW 535i (RM 598,800).

Euromobil has pre-sold 10 units and is expecting 25 units to be sold very soon.
