BYD is set to accelerate the construction of its automotive assembly plant in Indonesia, which will occupy approximately 247 acres of land in the Subang Smartpolitan Industrial Area, West Java.

The facility was initially scheduled to commence operations in early 2026, but this timeline has been advanced to the fourth quarter of 2025.

BYD aims to enhance production capacity to cater to both domestic and export markets while simultaneously developing the infrastructure required to support the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in Indonesia.

The assembly plant is projected to generate approximately 8,700 jobs. However, with the planned expansion of production capacity, this figure is expected to exceed 18,000, creating new employment opportunities across various sectors.

Additionally, the facility presents possibilities for the development of other electrified vehicles, such as plug-in hybrids. Currently, BYD's offerings in Indonesia are limited to EVs, including the Seal, Atto 3, Dolphin, and M6 models.

In early 2025, BYD plans to introduce its Denza premium sub-brand to the Indonesian market. However, the company has not yet disclosed which model will be the first to be launched.
