Capital Smart Motors to begin local NEV manufacturing, assembly

Capital Smart Motors (CSM) has announced plans to launch its manufacturing and assembly operations in Pakistan.
The company confirmed that it is establishing one of Pakistan's early new energy vehicle (NEV) completely knocked down (CKD) production plants, as the country progresses towards localised electric vehicle (EV) production.
According to an official statement, CSM is now entering the manufacturing phase. Under Phase 1, the company will assume control of a local facility for interim production, while Phase 2 will involve the construction of its own advanced CKD plant.
Capital Smart Motors, a relatively new entrant in Pakistan's automotive market, has introduced four Chinese EV brands in the country to date.
These include Riddara, an all-electric pickup truck brand; Zeekr, a luxury EV brand; Forthing, whose model Friday became Pakistan's first range-extended electric C-SUV (REEV); and JMEV, the manufacturer of the all-electric sedan Elight.
Until now, CSM has been importing vehicles as completely built-up (CBU) units. With local assembly now under development, the company aims to reduce costs and offer more competitive pricing.
It is notable that the Seres 3 was Pakistan's first new energy vehicle (NEV) to be assembled locally.
More recently, Hub Power Company (Hubco) and Chinese EV manufacturer BYD announced plans to establish another NEV assembly plant, which is expected to begin operations in 2026.
