MAW Vriddhi AutoCorp, the authorised distributor of Changan vehicles in Nepal, plans to introduce the S05 following the success of the Deepal S07, which was launched earlier in 2025.
The S05, like the S07, is built on Changan's EPA1 platform, specifically designed for their New Energy Vehicles.
Leveraging the EPA1 platform, the S05 strikes a balance between performance, affordability, and a refined driving experience.
Unveiled in China in October, the S05 quickly garnered thousands of orders upon its release.
Furthermore, it is available in both Battery Electric and Extended Range Electric variants for the international market.
The price of the S05 in Nepal is expected to be between NPR 5.5 million and NPR 6.5 million (US$ 40,400 - 47,800). However, the exact price is yet to be confirmed.
Deepal plans to officially launch the S05 in early 2025, likely in March, 2025.
This compact SUV will strengthen Deepal's electric line-up in Nepal, offering a more practical option for buyers who find the S07 too large.
The S05 is powered by a 175 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor, generating a maximum power of 232 PS and a maximum torque of 320 Nm.
It is supported by a 56.12 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack and boasts a CLTC claimed range of 510 km. A 7.2 kW AC charger fully charges the battery from 0% to 100% in approximately 10 hours.
With a DC fast charger, the battery charges from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes.
The S05 has a top speed of 180 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds.
Its near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution enhances handling, acceleration, and stability, delivering impressive overall performance.
Internationally, the S05 also offers an "Extended Range" variant that combines a petrol engine with electric power to enhance efficiency. However, this model will not be introduced in Nepal.
