GAC Group plans to launch at least five new models in Indonesia in 2026. The expansion is intended to support the development of the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) market in the country.
The company is also considering producing these models locally in Indonesia, which may result in additional employment.
"We will launch five models and are considering local production. However, producing them simultaneously will certainly take time, especially for preparation and other purposes," said Andry Ciuo, CEO of GAC Indonesia, some time ago.
He did not elaborate on the specific vehicles to be introduced, but indicated that not all of them would be electric vehicles (EVs).
"We will continue to consider bringing in a variety of technologies, not just electric vehicles," he further added.
One model reported to be under consideration is the E9 PHEV. The model was showcased last year but has yet to go on sale in Indonesia.
"The plan is to launch it this year, but of course there will be differences. The one we showed back then was the older model, while we want to introduce the new generation," he added.
He further stated that the latest model has not yet been launched in China, and therefore additional time will be required before it can be introduced in Indonesia.
"It will only launch in China around April, after which it will be brought to Indonesia," he said.
At the Indonesia International Motor Show 2026, GAC is showcasing its vehicle line-up. The manufacturer is also displaying the E8, which it states remains in the customer development phase.
The model is expected to be included among GAC's upcoming launches in Indonesia. Its dimensions measure 4,920 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, 1,760 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,930 mm.
In its home market, the GAC E8 is offered as a PHEV with two engine options, 1,800 cc or 2,000 cc, combined with a ternary lithium battery.
