Mahindra Scorpio-N Pick Up confirmed for launch in 2027

Mahindra & Mahindra has confirmed the launch timeline for the Scorpio-N-based pick-up in India.
The model is scheduled for a 2027 launch, with left-hand-drive markets expected to follow in 2028. The vehicle has been under discussion since the unveiling of the Global Pik Up concept in 2023. The announcement of a timeline confirms its transition from concept to a production programme.
The new pick-up is not intended to replace Mahindra's existing pick-up range. The company continues to operate a commercial pick-up business. The Scorpio-N-based pick-up is expected to be positioned above the current portfolio, targeting buyers seeking a vehicle with an open load bed alongside cabin comfort, features and stable highway performance.
Why the launch is being planned now
The pick-up market has divided into two categories. One consists of work-oriented vehicles, typically single-cab or basic double-cab models designed to carry loads at low operating cost. The other comprises lifestyle pick-ups, where a load bed is combined with an SUV-like cabin and distinct brand positioning.
Mahindra intends to compete in the latter segment using the Scorpio nameplate. The development coincides with growth in the company's utility vehicle business. In January 2026, Mahindra reported a 25% year-on-year increase in domestic utility vehicle sales. The figures indicate growth in overall volumes.
Exports are also relevant. Mahindra has announced an export order for the Scorpio Pik Up to Indonesia in 2026. Although this model differs from the Scorpio-N-based lifestyle pick-up, it indicates increased production and supply of pick-up vehicles. Higher export volumes may support the introduction of additional derivatives and body styles in the domestic market.
Final production specifications have not been disclosed. The vehicle is expected to use a ladder-frame platform and a diesel engine from the 2.2-litre mHawk family. Four-wheel drive is likely to be offered, and an automatic transmission may be available in higher trims.
The Global Pik Up concept highlighted features typically associated with SUVs rather than commercial vehicles, including multiple drive modes, connected technology and readiness for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Production specifications may differ from the concept, but the positioning suggests an SUV-based pick-up configuration.
In terms of design, the production model is expected to remain aligned with the Mahindra Scorpio-N rather than adopting a completely new front-end design.
Pricing will influence its positioning. Within Mahindra's portfolio, the Bolero MaXX Pik-Up range starts at Rs. 785,000 (US$ 8,660), with higher-capacity variants priced above that level. Lifestyle pick-ups such as the Toyota Hilux are priced higher, with the Hilux Black Edition listed at Rs. 3.79 million ex-showroom.
The pricing difference between commercial and lifestyle pick-ups creates a mid-range segment. If positioned between existing commercial models and higher-priced lifestyle pick-ups, the Scorpio-N-based pick-up would enter this segment.
The variant structure may include an entry-level version for business users seeking additional features compared with basic pick-ups, along with higher trims offering automatic transmission and additional comfort features for private buyers.
The launch is planned for 2027. The vehicle is expected to be positioned between commercial pick-ups and higher-priced lifestyle models, with pricing and variant configuration influencing its market placement.
