Honda Beat scooter patented in India

Honda has patented the Beat scooter in India, following the pattern set by the NX125 and other international models.
Like the NX125, the Beat shares its engine with the well-known Honda Activa, a popular scooter in the Indian market.
The Honda Beat is powered by a 109.5cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that generates 9 PS at 7,500rpm and 9.2 Nm of torque at 6,000rpm, slightly more than the Honda Activa's output of 7.9 PS and 8.90 Nm.
While the bore and stroke are identical to the Activa, there are likely some changes in the Beat's engine to account for the higher power figures.
Designed with practicality in mind, the Beat features a traditional floorboard, unlike the spine section commonly seen on scooters in Southeast Asia, such as the Yamaha Aerox 155. The Beat rides on 14-inch wheels and is equipped with a telescopic fork and monoshock, offering longer suspension travel compared to typical Indian scooters.
The Beat also comes loaded with features like keyless ignition (in higher variants), an anti-theft alarm, a USB charging port, an LED headlight, and Honda's Combi-Brake System (CBS). With a low seat height of 742 mm and a kerb weight of 87/88 kg depending on the variant, it's a lightweight and accessible scooter.
However, despite this patent, Honda has a track record of patenting international models in India without launching them in the market. Past examples include models like the Forza 350, Hawk 11, and CB750 Hornet, leaving it unclear whether the Beat will make its way to Indian showrooms.
