Honda introduces more affordable Jazz S
The second generation Jazz has not been a strong seller in Malaysia.
This changed with the introduction of a hybrid variant, which thanks to its tax exemption status, is priced lower at RM 94,800 (US$ 25,000) and offers far more equipment over a standard Jazz V's RM 109,800. The Jazz Hybrid regularly challenges the Toyota Prius c as Malaysia's best selling hybrid model.
Despite the relatively mature hybrid technology and the many features thrown in, there are still some who prefer a regular internal combustion engine (ICE) model.
Today, Honda introduced a cheaper grade S variant of the Jazz, priced at RM 99,800 (on the road). The grade V model will be discontinued.
The RM 10,000 savings come from adoption of smaller 15-inch wheels (versus 16-inch in the Jazz V), deletion of cruise control, keyless entry, paddle shifters and steering wheel audio control buttons, side sill garnish, exhaust tip finishing. There are also some very minor differences between the front and rear bumpers while the front grille is now black mesh instead of gunmetal mesh.
The Jazz S is full imported from Thailand and is available in Brilliant White Pearl, Polished Metal Metallic and Crystal Black Pearl.
Honda Malaysia targets sales of 210 units of the Jazz S by the end of this year.
