KG Mobility, Pindad Partner on national car, EV bus project

KG Mobility announced on 13th May 2025 that it has entered into a partnership with Indonesia's state-owned defence company, Pindad, to collaborate on a national car and electric bus project in the Southeast Asian country.
The South Korean automaker stated that it signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) with Pindad at the latter's headquarters in Bandung, Indonesia, on 15th May, 2025. The signing ceremony was attended by KG Mobility Chairman, Kwak Jea-sun, and Pindad's Chief Executive Officer, Sigit Santosa.
According to the agreement, KG Mobility will support Pindad in vehicle product evaluation, technology, and engineering.
The two parties will work together to expand Pindad's existing national car and electric bus production project in Indonesia, with a target production capacity of 200,000 units annually.
In 2024, KG Mobility exported 1,060 knock-down kits for its Rexton sport utility vehicle (SUV) to Indonesia and plans to increase this volume to 3,000 units in 2025.
The company stated that the partnership is part of its strategy to expand into additional markets.
Kwak Jea-sun noted that Indonesia is currently the largest automotive market in Southeast Asia and that KG Mobility plans to increase sales through its product offerings and marketing activities.
