Lexus Malaysia launches new LS variants
Motor Trader, 13 Jan '10

Lexus Malaysia, a division of UMW Toyota Motor, launched two models on January 12th - the facelifted LS 460L and the all-new LS 460 Sport.

The company is targeting sales of around 400 Lexus luxury cars this year. More than 300 units of the Lexus were sold last year.

UMW Toyota president Kuah Kock Heng is hopeful that the target can be achieved with the launch of new models as well as network expansion. "We are expanding Lexus 3S (sales, service and spare parts) centres in Penang and, in the later part of the year, Johor. With the expansion plans set out, we hope to achieve our target of around 400 units, hence growing our share of the premium market segment," Kuah said. "The economy is on the mend and this bodes well for the auto industry."

Lexus has lived up to expectations to continue offering luxury refinement, safety and comfort in the facelift model LS 460L and the new LS 460 Sport.

The 4.6-litre LS 460L sells at RM829,448 (US$ 251,000), while the LS 460 Sport is priced at RM719,448 (on the road, without insurance) for individual private registration. For company registration, they are priced at RM848,000 and RM738,000 respectively.

The LS 460L luxury sedan, first introduced here in December 2006, illustrates Lexus' commitment to improving its prestigious vehicles, Lexus Malaysia director Harry Loo said.

It was specially given a facelift to cater for affluent and discerning customers who are constantly looking to upgrade their vehicles, he added.

"The new Lexus 460 triumphs in safety, comfort and convenience against its competitors with enhanced features," Loo said. He said Lexus Malaysia is introducing the new LS 460L five-seater to meet the preference of the market here. "We have also transformed the LS 460 with a standard sport package for an enjoyable drive."

Lexus began establishing its brand name in the country in December 2006 with the introduction of the LS 460L and the GS 300.
