MSRTC launches 17 EV buses, with more set for deployment soon

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) recently launched 17 electric buses in recognition of National Road Safety Month, as confirmed by an official.
The buses were introduced at an event in Khopat, Thane, attended by the state's transport minister, Pratap Sarnaik. Sarnaik stated that a proposal is underway to add 2,500 new buses and lease 5,000 electric buses.
Following the launch of these 17 buses, an additional 150 buses are expected to be deployed within the next two months.
Sarnaik emphasised that MSRTC must ensure proper technical maintenance, punctual operations, and strict compliance with road safety regulations.
Madhav Kusekar, the managing director of MSRTC, further added that the corporation will implement measures to improve the mental wellbeing of its drivers, enhance the cleanliness of its facilities, and improve working conditions.
