Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official local distributor of the Japanese carmaker's products, will be introducing the new Pajero Sport VGT later this month.

The new variant of the Pajero Sport is set to offer a more powerful engine, advanced technology and safety features. The VGT's 2.5-litre Common Rail diesel engine will be fitted with a new Variable Geometry Turbocharger (GMT), boosting power and torque to a significantly higher level respectively.

VGT technology uses variable vanes to control exhaust flow against the turbine blades, ensuring a constant delivery of additional fresh air to the engine for optimum output and performance.

With an estimated price of RM 173, 000 (US$ 59,600), the new Pajero Sport variant will be sold alongside the GS 4WD and GL 2WD versions, offering a wider option for customers.

The Pajero Sport has proved quite popular in Malaysia's sport utility-vehicle segment, with over 3,000 units sold in the country since its introduction in 2009.
