Six years after the unveiling of Nissan's fifth generation iconic Z-car, the 350Z, the much-anticipated 370Z official launch in Brunei left those present at the event speculating what the new 3.7-litre engine, 335-horsepower machine can offer for its price.

A 'Prologue' and unveiling of Nissan's sixth generation Z-Car, 370Z, held on May 16th at the Sheraton Utama hotel in the capital saw Dato Lim Beng Thai, Managing Director of Boustead, officially launch the sports car in Brunei.

On the technical side, the 370Z has the world's first 6-speed syncro-rev transmission which is activated with just a switch of a button. During shifting up or down, upon engagement of the clutch, the revs will be matched according to the speed to create a lag free response when needed. Equipped with magnesium-paddle shifted 7-speed auto gear box or manual, the machine has Limited Slip Differential (LSD) that enables the 335hp-rated 3.7 litre engine to take the car to 100 kilometres in 5.5 seconds with a top speed of 270-280km/h.

Meanwhile, the concept behind the prologue was because the event kick-started with the release of some of Nissan's biggest names in motorsport, namely, the 370Z, NHPC and the GT-R.

NHPC is the main backbone of the GT-R's introduction to Brunei as it has been a strict criteria that a Nissan High Performance Centre has to be set up before qualification to distribute GT-Rs. The centre consists of a NHPC showroom, service centre, service bay with special hoist, alignment machine tester, body alignment tool, special paint programme, professional sales and after-sales programmes.

Boustead revealed that its NHPC will be complete by June and GTR spec II is due for release in July and is currently taking orders.

Over 1.76 million units of Z-cars have been sold from its first generation in 1969 until now.
