Xehay.vn, 6 Feb '26
As competition in the automotive market intensifies across product offerings and long-term development strategies, Omoda & Jaecoo Vietnam are advancing the construction of their automobile manufacturing complex at Hung Phu Industrial Park, Hung Yen province.
Project progressing on schedule
According to the latest update, the Omoda & Jaecoo factory project has entered a phase focused on key infrastructure works. In January 2026, the main steel frame of the assembly workshop was completed, forming part of the automotive manufacturing complex that is scheduled to commence operations in 2026.
Since the groundbreaking ceremony in October 2025, construction activities have been implemented in line with the approved schedule. The foundation system, steel structures, auxiliary areas, and internal transport routes have been completed to a defined stage, enabling progression to subsequent phases, including the installation of production lines and technological systems.
Structured development and manufacturing strategy in Vietnam
At the time of announcing its development strategy in Vietnam, Omoda & Jaecoo outlined plans that include vehicle sales, manufacturing investment, the development of a local value chain, and the establishment of mobility-related infrastructure.
The Omoda & Jaecoo Vietnam manufacturing plant in Hung Yen involves an initial investment of more than VND 8.125 trillion (US$ 313 million). The facility covers an area exceeding 380,000 metre square and has a designed production capacity of 120,000 vehicles per year. It is designed to manufacture petrol, hybrid, and electric vehicles. The facility is planned to support domestic demand and exports to ASEAN and other international markets over time.
Green factory model and environmental measures
The Omoda & Jaecoo plant is being developed under a "Green Factory - Clean Ecosystem" model. The project includes measures such as the use of open architectural design to allow natural light and ventilation, rooftop solar power systems, closed-loop wastewater treatment with rainwater reuse, and construction materials intended to reduce heat absorption and electricity consumption. An intelligent energy management system connecting the facility has also been incorporated. These measures are intended to align with ESG-related requirements and national sustainability objectives.
Local employment and industrial impact
Once operational, the factory is expected to create employment opportunities for local workers, support related industries and logistics services, and facilitate the transfer of environmentally oriented technologies.
Omoda & Jaecoo have stated that the factory forms part of their longer-term plans in Vietnam, in line with the company's stated principle of "Coming to Vietnam - For Vietnam," which has guided its activities in the market over the past year.
