Kompas Otomotif, 28 Jul '26
Omoda and Jaecoo officially launched the Omoda O4 electric vehicle (EV) in Indonesia on July 27th, marking the global debut of the company's Super AI Cockpit technology.
Indonesia is the first country selected for the model's launch. The ceremony also marked Omoda's official launch as a standalone brand alongside Jaecoo under the Omoda & Jaecoo Indonesia brand. Omoda & Jaecoo International Chief Executive Officer Shawn Xu said Indonesia was selected because it is one of the fastest-growing automotive markets, has a young demographic, and a developing digital ecosystem.
"Indonesia is now not only one of the fastest-growing automotive markets in the world, but also a market that is open to innovation, we selected Indonesia as the first country in the world for the global launch of the Omoda O4 and the debut of our mass-produced Super AI Cockpit. This decision reflects our assessment of the Indonesian market and our view that Indonesian consumers are ready to adopt AI-based smart mobility," Shawn said.
Strategic market
According to Shawn, the decision to launch the model first in Indonesia was also influenced by the performance of the Jaecoo J5 EV, which became the highest-selling electric vehicle during the first half of 2026. In addition, Indonesia has a large young population with a high rate of technology adoption. According to the company, these characteristics align with Omoda's target market of young consumers with dynamic lifestyles.
"Indonesia has a very large young population. They are more open to technology and want to stand out. This aligns with Omoda & Jaecoo's product positioning, which offers vehicles with personalised designs and technology," Shawn said.
He further added that the performance of the Omoda & Jaecoo electrified vehicle range in various countries supported the introduction of the company's AI technology through the Omoda O4.
Super AI Cockpit debut
Alongside the launch of the Omoda O4, Omoda & Jaecoo also introduced its Dual Super Strategy, which combines the Super Hybrid System (SHS) and Super Intelligent as the direction for future product development.
According to the company, the Super AI Cockpit technology enables the vehicle system to go beyond executing voice commands by understanding user intent, learning driving habits, and providing a personalised experience through the use of large language models (LLMs).
In terms of design, the Omoda O4 adopts the Cyber Mecha design philosophy, featuring pronounced body lines, Cyber Lightning headlights, and a spaceship-inspired cockpit combined with a large touchscreen.
As a battery electric vehicle, the Omoda O4 is equipped with a 65.05 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which the company said provides a driving range of up to 553 kilometres under the NEDC test cycle. The electric motor produces a maximum output of 160 kW and 275 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 7.1 seconds.
"The launch of the Omoda O4 in Indonesia marks the start of the global rollout of our Super AI Cockpit into international markets, today also marks the official launch of Omoda & Jaecoo in Indonesia. We intend to introduce a broader range of smart mobility products to Indonesian consumers through our two brands," Shawn said.
