Indonesia is expanding its electric vehicle infrastructure as part of the national energy transition.
Pertamina Patra Niaga has stated its intention to support this transition through the development of EV infrastructure.
Currently, the company operates 10 SPKLU (Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations) and 45 SPBKLU (Public Electric Vehicle Battery Exchange Stations) in the Greater Jakarta area.
Roberth MV Dumatubun, Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, noted that the network of facilities will continue to expand in line with the energy transition roadmap and evolving community requirements.
The company plans to extend SPKLU and SPBKLU coverage to additional areas while maintaining its existing fuel operations, which remain essential for land, sea, and air transportation in Indonesia.
Pertamina anticipates that the fuel business will remain relevant in the medium term while developing low-emission energy solutions to meet diverse consumer needs.
The company is also reviewing international practices, including those from China, to inform its energy transition strategy.
Implementation is tailored to domestic conditions, recognising that each country has distinct energy requirements and consumer behaviours. The energy transition in Indonesia is structured to be gradual and measured, aligned with community requirements.
