The Piaggio Group opened an assembly facility in Indonesia in 2022. Located in Cikarang, West Java, the factory initially began by assembling a single model, the LX 125 i-Get.
In 2025, Piaggio announced that it had also started assembling the Vespa LX 150 i-Get. The company has since expressed interest in expanding local production to include additional models for the Indonesian market.
"Our factory is currently increasing its production capacity and is ready to introduce new innovations," said Marco Noto La Diega, Managing Director and Country CEO of Piaggio Indonesia, during a recent event in Jakarta.
However, he declined to provide further details about which additional models might be assembled at the facility. Several Vespa models, such as the Sprint and Primavera, are considered strong candidates for local assembly. Both models are priced at IDR 50 million (approximately US$ 2,950) and above, and remain popular among consumers.
"Our factory is ready to bring new developments - yes, this year, but not just yet," Marco emphasised.
At the start of 2026, Vespa introduced updated versions of its five flagship models in Indonesia. All models are now equipped with a larger 180 cc engine, designed to better meet the demands of urban mobility.
Piaggio has also introduced updates to both features and design across the Vespa lineup. For example, the Vespa Primavera and Sprint now come with modern digital enhancements, including a full-color LCD dashboard.
Additionally, the Vespa Primavera, Sprint S, and Sprint Tech are now equipped with a more convenient keyless system. Smartphone connectivity has also been improved through MIA Connectivity, enabling easier access to various vehicle information.
These updates have been introduced without affecting the current pricing, which remains unchanged from the previous versions - for now.
