Proton's e.MAS 5 electric compact SUV is set to make its debut in Nepal, with authorised distributor Jagdamba Motors announcing plans to introduce the model to the domestic market in the near future.
The fully electric compact SUV has been developed through Proton's partnership with the Chinese automotive group Geely. The e.MAS 5 combines Geely's electric vehicle technology with Proton's engineering and has been designed to meet the needs of drivers through a combination of technology, features, practicality and everyday usability.
According to Jagdamba Motors, the arrival of the e.MAS 5 reflects Proton's efforts to expand its electric vehicle portfolio in Nepal as demand for EVs continues to grow in the country. The company stated that the model is expected to offer safety, practicality and value for money, supported by its technology, reliability and driving performance.
The Proton e.MAS 5 received international recognition after being named Electric Compact Vehicle of the Year 2026 at Malaysia's Allianz DSF Vehicle of the Year Awards. The award recognised the vehicle's design, electric powertrain technology, comfort, practicality, everyday usability and suitability for modern driving requirements.
Designed with practicality in mind, the e.MAS 5 incorporates several storage solutions intended to maximise interior usability. These include a 70-litre front trunk (frunk), a 28-litre under-seat storage compartment and a 20-litre storage space located beneath the centre console. According to Jagdamba Motors, these features are intended to help users organise daily essentials while making effective use of the vehicle's interior space.
The company added that the e.MAS 5, which combines design, technology and practical functionality, is expected to support Proton's presence in Nepal's electric vehicle market. Jagdamba Motors has not yet announced the official launch date or pricing details for the Proton e.MAS 5 in Nepal.
