Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has been launched at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2024.
The company has revolutionised the drive system for the all-new Himalayan, this latest model, with a new Sherpa 450 water-cooled engine system that is combined with many technological features helps enhance adventure travel.
Royal Enfield Thailand says "the all-new Himalayan will definitely be officially released in Thailand by the end of 2024, which comes with 3 shades: Hanle Black, Kaza Brown, and Slate Himalayan Salt."
Talking about the concept behind the development of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, Anuj Dua - Head of Business, Royal Enfield-Asia Pacific (APAC) said, "Before we started developing the all-new Himalayan We rode together with our consumers, we talked with world travellers, explorers, and athletes to gather information and combine it with our own experiences and have decided on the important DNA that we need to preserve."
"For the all new Himalayan 450 paired with a Sherpa 450 engine system, cooled with water. This is a first from Royal Enfield. It is also the first time that we have a 4-way adjustable electronic throttle system that delivers the right amount of power and torque for challenging terrain. And for the first time in partnership with Google Maps, we have Tripper-Dash with full map navigation," Anuj further added.
"We have tested this vehicle over 5,500 km, starting from Chennai India all the way to UmLing La at an altitude of 19,024 feet, the all-new Himalayan is the perfect combination of expert thinking, developing technology and the true DNA of Royal Enfield, we are confident that the all-new Himalayan will arouse the hearts of Thai adventurers who are passionate about bikers and are ready to join us on the 'Pure Motorcycling' journey, Dua continued.
With improvements in power, performance and control, the all new Himalayan is an easy-to-ride motorcycle. It provides balance and comfortable riding even at low speeds. Combined with a new, softer clutch and a smoother throttle response from the electric throttle system, makes it easy to drive on narrow roads and congested traffic.
The all new Himalayan's suspension has a higher ground clearance and more travel, this helps one to tackle rougher terrain than before. Without having to worry about the bike's belly hitting the ground.
All new frames have been designed to be useful in off-road without causing the Himalayan to be too high or lose its balance. The new frame is more rigid than before. This makes the efficiency and stability in cornering clearly better.
New Showa upside down shock has been designed to perform in a variety of conditions, from smooth roads to rocky river beds and suspension quality isn't just about performance but rather comes with easier controls.
When dealing with rough, slippery, steep and unpredictable terrain it prevents the rider from being distracted from controlling the bike, reduces the effort required to receive shock when on an uneven road.
The ergonomics of the vehicle have been improved to respond to the driver's body. The distance between the legs is narrower. Allows for better control when in a standing position. And makes it possible to place your foot on the ground more fully. Increases confidence for the rider in any position.
Rear of the bike's 17-litre fuel tank has been slimmed down to provide more comfortable knee resting while riding. Separate rider and pillion seats allow the rider to adjust the seat up 20mm, ideal for tall people.
In addition to the standard seats There is also a low seat (Low Seat) as an accessory. Gives the rider a wide range of height adjustments. Standard seat and optional low seat Riders will have a seat height range of 805 mm to a seat height of 845 mm.
This, combined with the narrow frame and tank, gives the driver confidence when driving and parking. Both the rider and pillion seats Designed to be comfortable even during long drives. Whether on road or off road.
All-new Himalayan still uses the proven 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels from the original model. With newly developed aluminium alloy rims and custom tires for superior traction. Gives confidence in controlling the car and stability in both on and off-road conditions. In addition, the wider 140/80 rear tires provide better traction and increased confidence both on tarmac and off-road.

The rider can choose between Performance and Eco driving modes. Throttle response is changed by a new electronic throttle system. Rear ABS can be disabled for a more engaging off-road driving experience.
The engine of the all new Himalayan uses a new 452cc Sherpa engine with more power and torque than before. Provides excellent low-end torque. and still maintains the unique identity of Royal Enfield with a maximum power of 41 PS at 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 40 Nm at 5,500 rpm.
More than 90% of torque is available from engine speeds of 3,000 rpm and up. This makes it unnecessary for the driver to drag the rpm high to gain power. Because the power comes in the low rpm range. This feature is most useful when climbing slippery slopes. It helps the wheels to easily find the point of traction and if compared to a machine that doesn't have torque at the beginning. The wheels may slip and one may lose control.
In addition, the high torque makes riding easy and comfortable when going with a passenger and luggage. The new engine has a semi-dry oil pan design. To increase maximum ground clearance and help the bike have a compact form factor.
This is the first time Royal Enfield has installed a cooling radiator and water pump. By using two-way cooling, it improves efficiency. Which is very important when driving on roads that are quite off-road. that must climb a steep slope at an altitude above sea level It is a new design to maintain engine performance.
New 6-speed transmission has wider gear ratios. Suitable for better highway driving with the Slipper Clutch system, making the clutch work softer and Helps to prolong the life of the clutch. Well developed suitable for aggressive driving.
