Subaru launches all-new E-Outback
SgCarMart, 6 May '26
Electric vehicle adoption continues to evolve across global markets, with Subaru introducing two electric models in its line-up in Singapore, where the brand has not traditionally been a primary choice among EV buyers.
Priced from SGD 215,800 (US$ 169,520) with COE, the E-Outback joins the Solterra XT, which debuted in January 2026. Both SUVs are based on the e-Subaru Global Platform, developed for Subaru's electric models.
During the media launch at Nomads, Motor Image Enterprises, Subaru's official agent in the market, outlined the E-Outback's features, including performance and range, passenger space, versatility, and safety.
The E-Outback is the most powerful Subaru model to date. It is equipped with two electric motors producing 280 kW (380 PS) and 536 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.
The motors are powered by a 74.7 kWh battery, offering a driving range of up to 443 km. Maximum charging speeds are rated at 22 kW (AC) and 150 kW (DC). Using DC fast charging, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.
The E-Outback features an all-wheel-drive system that manages drive force distribution based on road and driving conditions, along with regenerative braking. X-Mode is included as standard, supporting operation in conditions such as deep snow and mud.
Inside, the instrument cluster is displayed on a 7.0-inch TFT LCD, while infotainment functions are managed through a 14-inch touchscreen. Features include two wireless charging pads, three USB-C ports (one at the front and two for rear passengers), dual-zone climate control, and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
Although the E-Outback's overall length of 4,845 mm is 155 mm longer than that of the Solterra XT (4,690 mm), both models share an identical wheelbase of 2,850 mm. The additional length is located in the rear overhang, resulting in a boot capacity of 619 litres, which is 178 litres greater than that of the Solterra.
Occupant safety is supported by Subaru Safety Assist, the brand's safety system suite, including the pre-collision system (PCS), safe exit assist (SEA) and dynamic radar cruise control (DRCC).
At SGD 215,800, the E-Outback is priced SGD 8,000 higher than the Solterra XT. This difference may influence buyers to consider the E-Outback for its performance and practicality.
According to Motor Image, E-Outback customers are typically individuals in their 30s and 40s requiring additional space for family use. In contrast, Solterra XT buyers are generally in their 40s or 50s and have less need for additional practicality, as their children are older or living independently.
