Tata Motors, EKA Mobility, Switch Mobility and Eicher Trucks & Buses expanded their passenger mobility portfolios at the Prawaas 5.0 bus and passenger mobility exhibition in Gandhinagar, showcasing new products and technologies for school, staff, tourism, intercity, intracity and last-mile transportation applications.
The exhibition provided a platform for the manufacturers to display electric and alternative-fuel mobility solutions, highlighting the increasing focus on sustainable public and commercial passenger transportation in India.
Tata Motors launches Ultra Prime and Starbus Prime range
Tata Motors launched its new Ultra Prime and Starbus Prime bus range while displaying a broader portfolio of passenger mobility solutions, including CNG and electric buses, a city bus concept and a last-mile electric vehicle.
The newly introduced Ultra Prime and Starbus Prime range has been developed for school, staff and tourism applications. According to Tata Motors, the buses feature updated exterior styling, redesigned interiors, revised ride characteristics and reduced noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels. The range is equipped with 29 safety features, including a Driver Monitoring System, a 360-degree camera, an Intelligent Transport System (ITS) and a Reverse Park Assist System (RPAS).
Among the vehicles displayed was the LPO 1620 CNG, a compressed natural gas-powered bus developed for intercity and intracity passenger transportation. Tata Motors stated that the model combines higher passenger-carrying capacity with lower operating costs while supporting lower-emission mass mobility.
The company also showcased the Ultra Prime LPO 412 platform, designed for tourism, long-distance passenger transportation and intercity operations. Tata Motors displayed the Ultra Skool 9/9 EV electric school bus as part of its electric mobility portfolio.
It incorporates safety systems, fast-charging capability and an extended operating range. It also offers an optional paint scheme and interior graphics designed for neurodivergent children.
The company unveiled the Ultra Prime RE Concept in India for the first time. Designed for urban bus operations, the concept is intended to address passenger transportation requirements, operational needs and fleet management requirements. Alongside these products, Tata Motors exhibited the Magic EV, a zero-emission last-mile passenger mobility solution with a claimed driving range of up to 120 km on a single charge, as well as the Winger Plus people mover designed for staff, institutional and tourism applications.
Tata Motors also highlighted its customer support network, comprising more than 4,600 sales and service touchpoints across India. The company stated that customers have access to its Sampoorna Seva 2.0 service programme, annual maintenance packages, fleet management solutions and a genuine parts network.

EKA Mobility enters electric school bus segment
EKA Mobility used Prawaas 5.0 to enter the electric school bus segment with the launch of the EKA 9M Electric School Bus. Developed specifically for school transportation, the 9-metre electric bus is built on the company's lightweight monocoque platform and can accommodate up to 43 passengers in addition to the driver.
The vehicle features a high-strength steel structure and complies with AIS 052 safety standards. It is equipped with an Electronic Braking System (EBS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and air suspension. The EKA 9M Electric School Bus is available with either a 100 kWh or 200 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. The company claims a driving range of up to 180 km on a single charge and states that the vehicle supports CCS2 fast charging, enabling a full recharge in less than one hour and 45 minutes.
Alongside the new school bus, EKA Mobility showcased its electric passenger mobility portfolio, including the EKA Coach, EKA 12M Low Entry Electric Bus, EKA 3S and EKA 6S models.

Switch Mobility introduces EiV9 electric bus
Switch Mobility introduced its new EiV9 electric bus at the exhibition while also displaying an updated version of the EiV12 Intercity electric bus.
The company reported more than 700 registrations and a market share of 28.2% in India's electric bus market during the first half of 2026. Switch Mobility stated that it has deployed more than 2,000 electric buses globally, collectively covering over 150 million kilometres of operations. The company also has more than 2,500 electric light commercial vehicles currently in service. The newly launched EiV9 is a 9-metre electric bus designed for urban, staff and school transportation applications. Built on a dedicated electric bus platform, the EiV9 incorporates a lightweight structure and electric driveline architecture intended to optimise energy consumption and operational performance.
Power comes from a Permanent Magnet Variable Reluctance (PMVR) motor producing up to 213 kW of peak power. The bus is available with modular battery configurations, allowing operators to select battery pack options based on route requirements and operational duty cycles.
Charging is supported through dual-gun CCS2 fast charging, while regenerative braking assists with energy recovery during operation. The vehicle is equipped with front and rear air suspension systems. Passenger amenities include individual USB charging points and seating configurations that can be adapted for different operating requirements, including pushback seating for staff transportation services. Safety equipment includes a Fire Detection and Suppression System (FDSS) and disc brakes on both axles. According to Switch Mobility, the vehicle architecture is designed to support operations across different environmental and operating conditions.
Updated EiV12 Intercity showcased
Alongside the EiV9, Switch Mobility displayed an updated version of the EiV12 Intercity electric bus designed for long-distance passenger transportation.
The EiV12 Intercity features reclining seats and multi-port charging points for passengers. It incorporates floor-mounted LFP battery packs, which contribute to a lower centre of gravity. The bus also features front and rear air suspension, dual-gun DC fast charging and driver-focused features, including a pneumatic suspension seat and camera-based digital mirrors. It is equipped with the Switch iON connected vehicle platform, which provides real-time diagnostics, remote monitoring and battery management functions.
SwitchKaro campaign launched
Switch Mobility launched its #SwitchKaro campaign alongside the unveiling of the EiV9. The initiative has been introduced as a communications platform targeting fleet operators, businesses and transport stakeholders, with a focus on promoting electric mobility adoption across commercial transportation segments.
"The launch of the all-new Switch EiV9 marks a milestone as we strengthen our presence across public and institutional mobility segments. The 9m electric bus market is expected to grow at a CAGR of nearly 34% by FY30, driven by increasing demand, the EiV9 has been developed to provide operators with higher efficiency, passenger comfort, safety features and lower operating costs. It reflects our focus on developing solutions that support the adoption of electric mobility while providing operational value for customers. The #SwitchKaro campaign encourages fleet operators and businesses to consider electric mobility solutions for commercial transportation," said Ganesh Mani, Chief Executive Officer of Switch Mobility.
Eicher showcases Skyline Pro E and Starline 2050 E Maxi Cab
Eicher Trucks & Buses showcased two passenger mobility products at Prawaas 5.0: the Skyline Pro E 12-metre Intercity Electric Bus and the Starline 2050 E Maxi Cab.
The company stated that the vehicles are designed to address operator requirements for lower operating costs, higher uptime and improved passenger comfort.
The Skyline Pro E is built on Eicher's electric platform and is aimed at intercity passenger operations. It offers seating for 44 passengers along with a driver and co-driver. The bus is equipped with connected vehicle technology through the My Eicher platform and features more than 5 cubic metres of luggage capacity, dual-port fast charging with water-ingress protection, a 360-degree camera system, front disc brakes, rear drum brakes and an air-suspended driver's seat.
Passenger amenities include USB charging ports, ambient lighting, foldable trays and two 24-inch LED televisions.
"India's bus industry is entering a new phase of transformation, with operators seeking mobility solutions that combine operational efficiency, profitability, sustainability and enhanced passenger experiences," said S. S. Gill, Chief Commercial Officer, VE Commercial Vehicles.
The Starline 2050 E Maxi Cab is designed for regional tourism and group travel applications. Powered by a four-cylinder engine, the vehicle is offered in an 11+1+driver seating configuration. It features push-back seats, three-point seat belts, disc brakes, a collapsible steering column and an anti-roll bar on the rear axle. The vehicle is also integrated with the My Eicher connected vehicle platform to support fleet monitoring and operational management.
Eicher stated that these products are intended to support operators across intercity, tourism and regional transport applications while addressing changing passenger expectations and operational efficiency requirements. The company's passenger vehicle portfolio covers school, staff, city, intercity and tourism transportation segments.
