Tesla has announced the upcoming deployment of V4 Supercharger Cabinets in China, with the rollout scheduled to begin later in 2025.
The V4 Superchargers, set to be introduced in 2025, will be accessible to other electric vehicle (EV) brands in China. These Superchargers, powered by V4 Cabinets, will offer fast charging capabilities of up to 500 kW.
According to Tesla China, this initiative will significantly enhance charging efficiency and improve the overall user experience.
The V4 Supercharger Cabinet is the latest and most powerful charging device from Tesla. It supports a voltage range of 400V to 1000V and offers easier and faster deployment, as stated by the US automaker.
As of November 2024, Tesla operates 60,000 Superchargers globally, with 20% of these (11,500) located in China. Tesla celebrated the opening of its 10,000th Supercharger in China in December 2022, and in April 2023, the company began opening its Supercharger network to other EV brands in the country.
In addition, Tesla operates a dedicated 5,000-square-metre Supercharger factory in Shanghai, which was completed in 2021. The factory has the capacity to produce 10,000 V3 Superchargers annually.
